Each part will be given a separate score by the candidates. The number of questions answered by the examinees determines their score on each of the four multiple-choice sections. Each section’s raw score is then translated to a scaled score ranging from 118 (lowest) to 132 (highest) (highest). The overall scaled score, which will range from 472 to 528, is the sum of all section scores. By 5:00 PM ET on the appointed date, the test score will be available. To view their results, examinees must log into their MCAT Score Reporting System. Scores will not be provided in any other way, such as by phone or mail, by the AAMC.

The AAMC has officially announced the MCAT exam dates and scores release dates for 2023! On November 10, 2022, registration for MCAT dates in January and March 2023 will open. Registration for MCAT dates in April-June starts in February 2023, and registration for MCAT days in July-September opens in May 2023.

Seats for testing have historically sold out quickly—some in less than 24 hours—and we expect the same to happen this year. MCAT seats were almost as coveted as tickets to the best music events!

In general, it’s ideal to take the MCAT as near to the end of the required courses as feasible. The more you wait, the more your understanding of the subjects will deteriorate. Late June/early July is fine if you’re okay with submitting your application before knowing your score.

Most folks will need 10–15 hours per week for at least four to six months to study for the MCAT. In total, you should study for the MCAT for at least 200 to 300 hours.
