UPES DAT 2023 – UPES is an acronym for the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies. Every year, it holds an online Design Aptitude Test (DAT) to select students for admission to the college’s design Courses.
Aspirants must take the DAT test to be considered for admission to design courses at the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES), and those who pass the test will proceed to the interview & portfolio phase. What is UPES DAT?
The online Design Aptitude Test (DAT) is conducted by the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) in order to admit candidates to the college’s design courses. Candidates for design courses at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) must take the DAT, & those who pass this admission round must subsequently attend interviews as well as a portfolio round.
The UPES DAT is a computer-based test. Applicants must take the UPES DAT Exam in order to be considered for admission to the School of Design Studies (SoDS) at UPES’ MDes & BDes programmes.

UPES DAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Aspirants should keep in mind that they’ll need to meet the UPES’ eligibility requirements. If it is discovered at any point throughout the process that an applicant does not meet the UPES DAT Eligibility requirements, their application will be rejected. The qualifying requirements for UPES DAT will be different for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Age
- Aspirants must have been born on or after October 1, 1996, to be considered for admission.
- Only the DOB listed on the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will be accepted.
Eligibility Criteria for B.Des Course
- If they wish to sit for the UPES DAT 2023 entrance test, Aspirants must pass intermediate from a recognised board/ institute with a minimum 50 per cent score in both their Class 10 & Class 12 and an aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths of at least 50 per cent.
- Without taking the test, aspirants can enrol in the UPES DAT B.Des programme. They must meet one of the following qualifying conditions in order to do so:
- Candidates must have received at least 65 per cent in Class 10 and Class 12.
- Alternatively, candidates must score at least 50% in Classes 10 and 12 and pass the JEE MAIN or UCEED test.
Eligibility Criteria for M.Des Course
- Aspirants with a valid CEED score are eligible to enrol in M.Des courses at UPES without taking the entrance exam. In classes 10 & 12, they should achieve a minimum of 50%.
- They must either finish a B.Tech/BE in any discipline/BFA (4-year programme) or a BArch/B.Des/BSc in Design (3-year programme) with a one-year foundation course in Applied Arts with a minimum of 50%.
UPES DAT 2023 Exam Pattern
UPES Design Aptitude Test 2023 will be done online for B.Des & M.Des programmes. The following is a list of their contact information:
- The UPES DAT Exam Pattern consists of multiple-choice questions that are objective in nature.
- There will be a total of 25 questions, each worth four marks.
- The time limit for completing the paper is 60 minutes.
- For each incorrect response, two marks will be subtracted.

UPES DAT 2023 Cut Off
Following the announcement of the results, UPES DAT will declare the UPES DAT cutoff for enrollment to B.Des programmes for the session 2023-21. For admission to UPES’ B.Des & M.Des programmes, aspirants must achieve the appropriate cutoff marks or a minimum percentage of marks. Those who meet the minimal cutoff are invited to attend the counselling session.
