North Eastern Council Scholarship Scheme About
A new scholarship programme specifically for candidates currently residing in the Northeastern cities of the nation has been developed by the North Eastern Council (NEC), which is part of the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region, GOI (Government of India). You can apply for several scholarship programmes through the NEC and receive Rs. 30,000 per year to help you pay for your study. NEC Scholarship 2024 Eligibility Criteria
The North Eastern Region’s (NER) financially disadvantaged students are eligible for the NEC scholarship. Before submitting an application for the scholarship, individuals must meet all prerequisites. Consequently, the following are the requirements for applying for an NEC scholarship:
- being a citizen of one of the North Eastern States.
- have passed the most recent qualifying exam for a diploma, degree, PG, M.Phil, or PhD course with at least 70% (for general applicants) and 60% (for SC and ST students) of the total possible points.
- have a combined annual family income of less than INR 4.5 Lac.
- not getting any other financial support from outside sources.

NEC Scholarship 2024 Application form
Through the NSP & the Mobile Application; UMANG, candidates who qualify for the scholarship can submit their applications online. Candidates can adhere to the NEC Scholarship Form instructions.
- Visit the NSP Portal or register by using the UMANG app.
- Register with an email address.
- Now enter your username and password to log in.
- NEC Scholarship may be accessed by clicking the Scholarship Corner or NEC Scholarship link.
- Enter the requested information.
- Submit the scanned documents in the requested size now.
- Click on the “Submit” button.
- Take the completed form in a physical copy or save it as a PDF.
Document Required
The following documents are required for NEC scholarship.
- Certificate of Permanent Residence (PRC)
- Bank Account Passbook Income Certificate granted by the Competent Authority

- The project guide or director (Research) must sign the synopsis (M.Phil./Ph.D. applicants)

NEC Merit Scholarship 2024 Selection Criteria
Applicants will be chosen based on their total merit & academic record. The scholarship is awarded solely based on merit. The applicant’s qualifying test scores and compliance with the quality-of-course-wise slots given to the states will be used only in the preparation of the merit list. Students will be chosen for M. Phil. and Ph. D. programmes based on their research topics and synopses that are pertinent to the concerns and difficulties facing the NE Region. NEC Scholarship 2024 Renewal Procedure
Every year, the scholarship recipients must reapply. Following are the specifics of the NEC scholarship renewal:
- The appropriate state government shall provide the NEC scholarship application to the renewal applicants, who must then complete it in the format specified.
- For the scholarship to be renewed, the student must additionally get a letter of reference from the institute’s director.
- The recommendation letter is only given if the student’s development has been satisfactory.
- The stipend is terminated for the whole time period if the academic year is unsuccessful.
- The NEC scholarship should only be renewed from the date of clearance to the following higher class or semester.
- The NEC should receive the punishment order and the statement for the scholarship renewal.
